Toyota Repair: Rear light failure warnig light, resistance ratings, toyota dealer

Ted:Own 2000 toyota le.The rear light failure warning light came on,which is on the left side of dash.Replaced light bulb in the high mounted stoplight on rear deck which was out.All lights in rear of car are working.The rear light failure warning light stays on,will not go out.Any help will be deeply appreciated.Thanking You In Advance. The first thing I tell everyone that has this common problem is to replace "ALL" the bulbs in the rear regardless of how they look and see if that helps, 80% of the time this will fix the problem, I also suggest getting all the bulbs from the toyota dealer, if the center brake light bulb is not correct(the wrong wattage) the warning light will come on, the same goes for the other bulbs, some aftermarket bulbs from GE etc will cause a problem because they are slightly different in the watt or resistance ratings, bulbs are relatively cheap compared to paying a repair shop $80-90 an hour so give it a try and let me know if it helped, if not I have more things for you to check.
