Toyota Repair: differential fluid change., dexron iii, filler plug

Question
Ted. How do I change the differential fluid on my wife's 96 2.2 automatic camry and how much a/t dexron III is needed ? thanks Mannie

Answer
The drain plug is located on the bottom of the differential housing, it is a 10mm hex plug so you will need a 10mm allen wrench, these things can be very tight and a simple wrench may not break it loose and you may have to use a socket and a breaker bar to remove it, the fill plug is located on the side cover towards the rear just above the steering rack housing, it is a 17mm head filler plug and you need a long 17mm wrench to remove it, once removed and the drain plug back in it takes about 1.5 quarts of fluid, you are going to need some sort of a pump to get the fluid in, these are available at most of the autoparts stores.
