Toyota Repair: 1995 Toyota Corolla, corolla wagon, toyota corolla

Question
Hi,
I have recently been experiencing a problem with my Corolla. This is new and has appeared suddenly. It is a 1995 Corolla wagon with 205,000 kilometres that has been working really well up to now.

First of all, after driving for about 20 - 30 minutes the car idles very low as if it is going to stall...but it hasn't stalled yet.
When braking, the engine will buck just before the car comes to a complete stop.
After driving for a while, a constant, unwavering hum begins in the dashboard and will not stop until the car has been shut off for a while.
Mentioned it to our mechanic and he suggested that is was nothing serious.
I've read all your responses to the idling problems of Camry's, and I'm wondering if this is the same or similar.

Any help or suggestions you could provide would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Mark

Answer
The corollas don't have the same stalling problem as the camrys, this is a different problem.
I would suggest that the intake system be checked for any air leaks especially the intake air tubes from the air filter to the throttle body.
I have no idea what the humming noise may be so I can't help with that, it's probably not related to the stalling problem.
