Toyota Repair: 92 Previa heater fan quit, fan speed control, backyard mechanic

Question
My '92 Previa is the best car I have owned. Other than a starter and a wheel bearing I have had to replace, she runs strong even after 240K. On the way home tonight, the heater fan quit working. It used to work on just HI but now- nothing. Where is it located and could a average backyard mechanic fix it? Thank you!!!

Answer
The blower motor is located under the hood, remove the air intake duct top and you can see it, to remove it the entire housing has to be removed from the firewall, there is also a resistor that controls the fan speeds which may be the problem.
There have also been some problems with the fan speed control switches on the dash, you can check the fan motor by applying 12 volts to one side of the terminal and grounding the other side, the fan should run at high speed.
