Toyota Repair: Toyota 22R motor+normal operating temp range, toyota 22r motor, radiator cap

Question
Thanks, Ted!  My motor is running at around 210, and I think it's because, after draining the system to put in a new water pump, there is still some airlock in the lines.  What is the best way to ensure that all air is removed and there is only water in the system?

Thanks -- Denise

I have a toyota truck with a 22R motor.  What is the normal operating temp range?  I can't find it in the manual or anywhere.  I have an actual temp gauge with numbers, and need to know what is acceptable in the higher, and the lower, limits.  What is the max temp that it can operate at, what is the preferred temp, and what is the danger zone temp?

Thanks!  Denise
Answer -
The normal operating temperature is between 180-190 degrees. Anything higher or lower is abnormal.

Answer
With the engine cold remove the radiator cap, start the engine and let it warm up, add water or coolant as needed, add it slowly, this may take some time, turn the heater control to full heat and turn the fan on, once there is hot air coming from the vents the system should be purged from all the air but check and add coolant for at least another 15 minutes to make sure there is no more air in the system, don't forget to fill the coolant bottle.
