A month ago after my car sat for a month it appeared that my emergency brake was stuck. After going forward and back it seemed to release. Yesterday I thought it happened again--My car wont go in reverse--it does go forward (cant move it anymore -up to my house) when i put it in reverse it sounds like it is engaging-the rpms drop but it won't go in reverse. I put it in neutral and tried to roll it back--it rocks but feels like it is in park--HELP!!! could it be the emergency brake again or could it be the transmisssion? 99 solara sle

Are you able to drive the car foreward at this time?
What happens when you put the shifter into the D position and try to drive?
With the shifter in the N position are you able to raise the engine RPM, in the same position, are you able to push the car with the e-brake off and the engine off, foreward and backward?
Please be specific with your answers.
The car drives forward. In N, I can raise the rpms. N with the car off it will not roll back I dont know about forward it is too close to the house
Answerjust one more question before I give up and instruct you to call a tow truck and have it towed to the nearest toyota dealer: You said you can move the car forward in drive, CAN YOU MOVE THE CAR UP THE DRIVEWAY TO YOUR HOUSE IN DRIVE, Yes or No? And if you did already let me know.
