Truck all at once became hard to start when cold won't idle misses and cuts off at stop signs and lights. 135000 miles last tune-up at 85000. This happened all at once. tailpipe black lots of unburned fuel

Since it's been 50K miles since the last tune up I think it's time do do another one, the spark plugs normally are good for about 30K, I suggest doing a basic tune up, replacing the spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, the plug wires(if original)or older than 60,000 miles, the air filter and the fuel filter. With this many miles there is also a pssibility that there may be a mechanical problem, before doing the tune up make sure the engine is sound, have the engine compression tested on each cylinder, it should be around 180psi, this will give a good indication of the engine condition, if the compression is good, the tune up should solve the drivability problem.
