Toyota Repair: 1991 Totoya Tercel Front Strut replacement, spring compressor tool, brake fluid

Question
I Think that I need to replace the front drivers side  strut because every time I go over a bump the car lunges on that side and sometimes the brake light comes on for a few seconds. Is this somthing I can do myself or is it real difficult and are there special tools required? Does the car have struts in the rear too and should all struts be replaced at the same time or can I just replace the strut that I think is bad?

Answer
It is a good idea to replace struts in pairs, check the brake fluid level it may be low, also check the front brakes they may be worn causing the brake fluid level to drop. Removing the struts can be done without much difficulty but there is a special spring compressor tool that is needed to compress the springs so that the strut can be seperated from the spring.
