Toyota Repair: Fuel Pump, intake leak, toyota pickup

Question
1979 Toyota pickup does not stay running had carburetor rebuilt had starter rebuilt and fuel comes out of the fuel pump car starts up when cold but when the choke opens up vertical it dies could the carburetor not been good even though it was rebuilt? or could it be the vacume lines are not connected right.the engine is a 20R

Answer
A common problem is that there is an intake manifold leak at the gasket near the EGR valve, check the manifold gasket for a leak, you can do this with the engine running spray some carburetor cleaner or brake cleaner around the are between the manifold and the head and see if the engine rpm goes up, if that's not the case the base gaskets of the carburetor could be leaking, I'm sure there is an intake leak.
