Toyota Repair: 1998 Camry Engine light, failure code, p0401

Question
The code is the same as every time (PO401) It does goes a way and comes back however even the light if OFF the car acts up. As of today the light is back on again and the code is PO401. I am almost sure that it is a vaccume leak some where but there is not one single place that knows how to do it over here.
Question -
The check engine light came back on after about three hours drive and the problem seem to be wrest. There is absolutely no problem when the car is parked and idling however when I start to accelerate after the stop it hesitates and dies.  This morning it drove smoothly to work but I think it is because the distance from home to work is ten minuets so the car didn't worm enough to act up. If you think of a part that could cause this problem please mention some description about such as location and what it looks like. Thanks

Question -
The engine is a 4 cylinder engine and there are no other codes that are showing however I tried to retrieve the code yesterday using a jumper but I couldn't and I cleared it by removing the EFI fuse. It hasn't came back yet but I guess I haven't drove it for long enough.-------------------------

Question -
The check engine light came on a few hours after a sudden hesitation in the engine while driving around 75 MPH. The light disappears every once in a while and the car drives fine when first started but after a long drive ( the car warms up)it hesitates and lack power when leaving a traffic light or driving after a short stop and some times it die. The code came out to be PO401 "Exhaust Gas". I have changed the spark plugs, spark plugs wires, and fuel filter but still the same. It idle very very smoothly and drives very smooth at high speed it only acts up at very low speed especially when accelerating. What do you think the problem could be? Thank you for your time anfd effort
Answer -
The P0401 is a EGR failure code, this usually does not affect driveability so I think there is another problem causing the hesitation, I need to know if it is a 4cylinder or V-6 engine and if there are any other codes beside the P0401.
Answer -
Let me know if the light comes on again, there have been some problems with idle speed control valves on the 4 cylinder camrys, causing stalling on take off, this may be the case here, try having the idle speed control valve removed and cleaned.
Answer -
Since the check engine light came back on I will need to know what the trouble code is now before I can give an answer.

Answer
I hit the duplicate answer button by mistake, the PO401 code does not cause a driveability problem it is related to the exhaust gas recirculation system which is part of the emiision control system, this code is mostly caused by a leaking EGR modulator valve, it's located right next to the egr valve and has three vacuum hoses attached to it. Try replacing it to solve the engine light problem.
Try my other recommendation about the idle speed control valve to fix the stalling problem.
