Toyota Repair: 1992 Toyota Previa, interior door panel, splined shaft

The exterior sliding door handle on my 1992 Toyota Previa broke so I bought a new one from the Toyota dealer. To install the handle, I have removed the interior door panel - almost. I can't figure out how to remove the interior door handle, which is preventing removal of the panel. Does this require a special tool? Any other tips for the project would be appreciated. Thanks.

The handle is held on with a spring clip, the easiest way to remove it is to insert a thin towel or rag behind the door handle and move it around until it catches the open end of the clip and then pull it out, to reinstall it put the clip on the door handle and just push it on to the splined shaft.
