Toyota Repair: 98 camry gauge fuse, vehicle speed sensor, obdii scanner

Question
Hello, Ok the history of this vehicle. Just installed a new Jasper engine, started it and let it run for a couple hours, everything worked great. Drove it to car wash without hood and washed engine compartment and car. Got back to our shop still worked perfect.  Let it run and warm up about 1 hour before heading home. Got about 2 miles out of town (still no hood on it) and the check engine light came on about another mile down the road the tranny acted like it slipped out of gear and the gauges all went dead. Got it home and dicovered it had blown the gauge fuse, put new one in and popped as soon as i turn the key on. OBDII scanner reads check engine codes p0401, p0500, p0402.  couple days before replacing the engine we put all new struts, rear brakes and left rear speed sensor on.  Hopefully all this info can help give me an answer to what is going on.  Thank you,  Ted

Answer
I'm not sure what the problem is that is causing the gauge fuse to blow.
The DTC PO 500 is a vehicle speed sensor malfunction located on top of the differential, make sure the connector is on, the other two codes 401/402 are EGR system failure codes, there is a problem with the EGR system.
There are a lot of circuits that share the gauge fuse so there are a lot of possibilities as to what is making it blow, try fixing the problems with the egr system and the speed sensor and the gauge fuse problem may also be resolved.
