Replaced Cold start valve, cleaned injectors, and new spark plugs. Still having trouble with COLD start. Recently read about a bad ground connection of coil may cause cold start problem.

Where is the coil located on a 1996 Toyota Camry?

Do you have any other ideas that I may check out?

Answer -
I need to know if it is a V-6 or 4 cylinder engine.

V-6 cylinder engine.
Additional information, on occasion the engine backfires after cranking for 5-7 seconds and then starts, pushing raw gas fumes out the tailpipe.

On occasion the 1996 Toyota Camry V-6 will start-up without extensive cranking. Whatever the cold start problem is, it is inconsistent, like an electrical problem, the Toyota dealer, and I cannot figure out the problem. Funny, all this began after a smog check; no adjustments were made and past smog.

Could it be a poor ground connection of the coils?

Answer
This engine has a distributorless ignition system , there is no distributor and there is no coil, instead, the bank two cylinder head (near the radiator) has three coil packs, each one fires two cylinders, the rear spark plugs near the firewall are fired by a coil pack near the front, if one of the coils was malfunctioning there should be an engine misfire and also a check engine light would turn on.
I'm not sure what the problem is, most of the time if there is a major malfunction the check engine light will illuminate.
Have you tried replacing the idle speed control valve on the throttle body?
