Toyota Repair: Remove steering gear from column, toyota camry, sway bar

Question
Ted

I have a 1995 Toyota Camry 4cyl and am trying to remove the steering gear to replace it.
The unit is sitting so close to the frame that I can't drop it to decouple the unit from the steering column.
How is this done?
Thanks for your help,

Abraham

Answer
The sub frame has to be lowered in order to remove the steering rack, remove all the plastic shields, loosen the front subframe bolts an completely remove the two rear 19mm bolts, remove the sway bar bolts, this will allow the frame to drop enough to get move the u-joint up and to get to the bolts that hold the rack in.
