Toyota Repair: Camry wont start, fuel pressure gauge, input signals

Question
1995 Camry 2.2L - started in the morining, drove 100km to work, no problems, would not start at lunch.

Won't fire, just cranks without firing.  Fuel pressure is good, spark is good, checked the timing belt and timing - both fine.  Checked fuses - engine, kick panels and under dash - all fine.  Suspect the injectors aren't being triggered.

Can the ECU be bad, just die?  Can any ECU sensors like THW, THA, TPS, AIC just die and throw the timing off so far, it won't fire?

If you have a good plug spark and spray some gas into the throttle body while cranking, shouldn't it fire, regardless whether injectors are working.

I'm stumped.

Answer
If there were any problems with the input signals from any of the sensors there would be a check engine light on.
If there is sufficient current to the spark plugs the engine should try to fire up when spraying gas into the intake system, The best way to check if the injector signal from the ecu is good is to get a small test light that is made especially for this purpose, available at any autoparts store, disconnect the injector connector and put the light into the connector, the light should flash if the injector is getting a trigger signal while cranking the engine. If this checks good check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge it should be about 35psi while cranking the engine.
