Toyota Repair: 1998 Avalon new battery, wont start, toyota avalon, battery change

Question
After replacing the battery in my 1998 Toyota Avalon, the lights will come on bright and steady when attempting to start the car, but it only clicks. I have had the starter tested and it's fine...the mechanics are not sure what the problem is exactly. They can get it to start by connecting directly to the starter, so I am wondering if there is some sort of security system that would prevent the car from starting after a battery change? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Answer
Yes, that is a possibility, I don't know what alarm system is installed but you can try doing the following and see if it will start.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Open the left front door and put the key in the on position
Reconnect the battery
Then turn the key to the start position, do not close the door until it starts up.
