Toyota Repair: Locked ignition, toyota dealer, rapid motion

I own a 1998 Toyota Rav4L. My ignition has locked up and will not allow me to turn the key. I have tryed the obvious of turning the steering wheel, etc. and someone even disconnected the battery thinking it may reset something, but still no luck. I have had no problems before with this and cannot figure out why it did it all at once. Any advice?

Are you able to pull the key out or is it stuck in the ignition?
If you can remove the key have a new key made, the old key may be worn, or try a spare key, if you need a new key don't use the old one for a match for the new key, the best way is to go to the toyota dealer and have them make a new key from the VIN number. If you cannot remove the key let me know in what position it is stuck.
In the meantime try wiggling the key in an up and down rapid motion while turning , this sometimes works and you can drive it to the dealer or repair shop that can resolve the problem.
