Hello, I had trouble starting my car this morning and I wondered what the trouble could be.  It is not due for an oil change, I am the only owner & have made sure the oil has been changed between every 3000 and 3500 miles.  The temperature is in the 40s, but the car was started and driven a bit yesterday with no trouble.  Use all octane rating gas (mostly 93).  I don't think it's the battery, the electrical stuff worked.  Does it sound like a problem that is only gonna get worse?  Thank you

Starter problems are sort of common on these corollas, if there is a clicking noise and the engine won't turn over the starter is probably the problem, if the engine cranks over but doesn't fire up there is another problem so let me know which it is and I can be of more help.

I did not notice a clicking noise.  The engine cranked but just would not fire up until we gave it some gas, and then it finally started.  I haven't had any more trouble with it except this morning there was the slightest hesitation but then it started.  It was 24 degrees, could cold be a factor?

Answer
The cold temperatures are not the problem, giving it gas or pushing or pumping the accelerator pedal is exactly what you should not do, the EFI system is designed to start the engine without touching the gas pedal.
The cold could be a factor as far as the starter is concerned, if there is a single click noise everytime the key is turned to the start position replace the starter.
