Toyota Repair: 96 Toyota Tacoma, oil change intervals, valve adjustment

Question
Ted,

I recently purchased a '96 Toyota Tacoma V6 auto with about 105K miles.  It now has 110K miles.  I know that the timing belt and other service had been completed at around 90K.  I hear no strange noises, and the truck uses absolutely no oil.  I have two questions.  1) Should I continue to use synthetic oil which the previous owner used?  2) Do I need to do a valve adjustment, or can the dealer just listen to see if there may be a problem?  I don't know if a valve adjustment has ever been done.

Thank you!

Answer
Using synthetic oil is a personal preference, you can either use it or not, you can change back to regular oil if you wish to do so, the only advantage I see to using it is that the oil change intervals are longer than regular oil.
The valves rarely go out of adjustment, if there is no noise and the engine is running and idling normally I would not recommend that you spend about $400 for a valve adjustment that it probably doesn't need.
