Toyota Repair: 1985 toyota corolla 2 door sr5, toyota corolla, failure rate

my rack & pinion is leaking at the right side on the rubber boot, is there a way to repair it intead to replace it with a new one? co'z new one is costly. i tried to put stop leak steering fluid but still the same problem.
your response would be appreciated...

We stopped repairing them a long time ago because of the failure rate of the repair and the time involved to do this, there are lot's of special tools required and the parts are not cheap either, it's more cost effective to replace it with a remanufactured unit, have you checked with a local autoparts place, you may be able to get a complete rack for about $200.
