Toyota Repair: Toyota Sienna Power Sliding Door Motor, toyota sienna, toyota dealer

Question
The motor for the power sliding door is gone.  What should I do to replace it myself? The Sienna van is a 2000 model and its the door on the passenger side that won't close.

Answer
This is a pretty common problem on these vans, Toyota hs issued quite a few bulletins on this condition, it is probably not something that you can do yourself, the motor and cable assembly costs more than $1,000.
It may not be the problem, there is also a problem with the door control computer, there are procedures to determine what the problem may be so I suggest that you have a Toyota dealer at least diagnose the problem and make a recommendation as to what may be a course of action to take to fix the problem but brace yourself, it will be expensive. (have you considered the option of trading it in)
