Nissan Repair: speedometer not working, nissan pickup, gear assembly

I have a 95 nissan pickup that the speedometer quit working while driving.If you back up they speedometer will work. Is it the speedometer cluster or the speedometer sensor giving me the problem?

I would check the gear in the trans.

Locate where the cable housing enters the transmission. There should be a round threaded clamp that holds the cable in the trans. Unscrew it and remove the clamp that holds the plastic gear assembly. Replace that and you should be fine.
