Toyota Repair: Echo Front Wheel Bearing, front wheel bearing, slide hammer

Question
I am attempting to replace a front wheel bearing on a 2000 Echo. Following the factory manual procedure, I made up a similar fixture so that I could use a slide hammer to pull the stub axle prior to pressing the bearing out. Although I have a 10 lb. slide hammer, the stub axle is not moving at all. Is there some trick to this?

Thanks.

Answer
The slide hammer will probably not have enough force to seperate the hub from the bearing, we normally use a large drift that fits just inside of the opening and put the whole assembly in a vice then the hub can be hammered out using the drift tool.
