Toyota Repair: RAV4 accelerator sticks, accelerator pedal, throttle plate

Question
The accelerataor on my RAV4 (1999 4dr 4wd) sticks. When I come to a stop, it is extremely hard to depress to get going again. This does not happen everytime the accelerator is completely released, but, it does happen frequently. When it does stick, it releases very quickly when enough pressure is applied to the accelerator pedal.
Thank you

Answer
This is a common problem, the throttle plate is sticking in the throttle body, some deposits have formed that cause this, it can be cleaned by removing the air intake tube from the throttle body and opening the throttle all the way, spraying throttle body cleaner and scrubbing the inside of the throttle body and the plate takes care of the sticking.
