Nissan Repair: Nissan Maxima Check engine soon warning light, nissan maxima gle, nissan maxima

Question
NISSAN MAXIMA GLE 2001 having 'Check engine soon light' up a long time.
Last inspection they put a waivier sticker and try to reset the computer to get rid of this warning sign, charged me $385 for this. It was gone for awhile and then comes up again. Car running good and has no signs of problem when driving. What should I do? Next inspection will be as much costly as last one. Are there is any suggestions to solve the problem?

Appreciate, Steve

Answer
Steve,

I do not know if you have access to Autozone or Checker.  but, for $65 to $70 bucks you could purchase a scanner that you can read the code and reset the light after you replace whatever is showing up.  I have one just to know what is going on with the vehicle.  Otherwise you are at the mercy of the shop.
