Toyota Repair: Supra tranny failure?, old chevy, cool point

Question
Hello
I drive a '90 Supra Non-turbo w/198K miles. It is an automatic. This past Friday I noticed the following:

While accelerating from 2nd gear to 3rd, it was as if it went into neutral because I was revving the engine but the car was not accelerating.

I have also noticed that the tranny does not shift from 2nd to 3rd at 2500 RPM as usual.

These conditions seem to happen after the car has been driven for awhile.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Answer
Remove the pan and see if it's full of metal,if so rebuild it. If not, take it to a shop that can hook the cooler lines up to a machine that cleans it this might get some more miles out of it, sounds like the valve body is stoping up . Any codes? If you don't want to spend the 100.00 or so at a shop, this is the poor mans way.  clean the pan, put the magnets back in where they came from, clean the screen, do not remove this as it just a screen refill with fuild to the cool point,  check at idling add a bottle of brake fuild 12oz, ok I know you think thats crazy, but it cuts the gum and softens the seals, you can buy the blue trans seal softner, put it on you fingers smell it, then do the same with the brake fluid, you tell me. At a 200 miles drain and refill with just fluid or untill it looks like what you poor out of the dexron bottle.  The brake fliud will clean the   out of it. I had a old chevy, T350 did the same thing, did this and it would brake loose in sec, kept it for 3 more years never sliped again.
