Toyota Repair: 1989 Camry V6 Heating System, toyota camry v6, 1989 toyota camry

Question
I have just recently bought a 1989 Toyota Camry V6 and the heater does not work. I found out that the heater cords are not even connected due to some sort of heater leak. I was told it will cost $700 (thats alot) to change the heating system because they have to take out the free-ons. Does the heating system even have anything to do with free-ons?

Answer
I think what you mean is the air conditioner freon, it is necessary to remove the a/c evaporator unit to get to the heater core which involves draining the system of all freon, the job of removing the heater core is quite involved and if you can get it all done for $700 consider yourself lucky.
