Toyota Repair: 1987 Celica Heater Trouble, control panel assembly, toyota dealer

Question
All of a sudden my heater has a mind of it's own.  Looking at what's visible in the engine compartment, when you set it to give heat it doesn't automatically pull the wire connected to the valve in. It stays in the cold position. Then without touching the controls inside the car at all, all of a sudden it will pull the wire in and then push it right out again. It does this little dance of in a bit then out a bit. When you disconnect the wire from the valve and manually push it in, there is plenty of heat. I just have no control over the heat at all.  What would be causing this problem.  Help winter is on the way!

Answer
Some model celicas(GTS) had auto climate control, if this is the case on yours the center control panel in the dash is probably the cause, the bad part is that the entire control assembly has to be replaced, this is the most common problem, this part is not cheap so call the Toyota dealer parts department for a price of the control panel assembly.
