Toyota Repair: console lights, daytime running lights, reostat

Hi,  

I recently modified my 1998 corolla, changing the dail set, but when we started the car we noticed that the console and dash lights weren't working.  We got another control reostat, but the lights still wont come on.  The daytime running lights aren't comming on either.  My friend has checked all the fuses, he doenst think its those.  Now he is trying to find where the controls are for the daytime running lights (trying to complete the circut).  Any ideas on what could cause this? Or where the control for the daytime running lights are?

I don't know what it is you modified so maybe you could be a little more clear on that part.
If this problem started after you made this modification it must have something to do with it, I don't have any idea what a dail set is, please explain exactly what it was that was done so I may be able to help.
