Toyota Repair: toyota camry, toyota camry, mild climate

Hi Ted,

Re:  95 Camry wagon, 200K miles, automatic trans.  Oakland, CA (mild climate)

1.  Over past couple of weeks, car does not always start on first turn of key (no sound at all).  Sometimes starts on second turn, sometimes fifth or sixth, sometimes the first.  Is this serious?  Is is expensive?  
2.  Dash light that signifies "check engine" has come on and stayed on twice, each for several days, over the past month, then gone off.  Is this a serious sign, or can I ignore it, since the light's off again?

I need to know if it is an automatic or manual transmission and 4cylinder or V-6.
The check engine light comes on if there is an emission control related problem, my advice is to take it to a shop or the toyota dealer and have the trouble code retreived, if there is an Autozone in your area they will help you get the code at no charge, let me know what the trouble code is and I can advise what course of action to take.
