Hello. I have a 95 deville with a 4.9L. Car developed pinhole in fuel rail. So i removed fuel rail and mig welded(work perfect) About 90 miles later car began too run super rich .Puffing out white smoke and the smell of fuel is tremendous it uses a gallon in 2 miles. I replaced spark plugs (didnt help) Cleaned egr valve and tubes in throttle body. I checked fpr and no seepage from vac hose or fpr nipple. I drained oil and changed with new oil filter. It seemed that there was some gas present in fuel. No white streaks in oil. When i say white smoke everyone wants to say head gasket. Its white smoke but it surely fuel. Please help me if you can Thanks...
-----Answer-----
If your using and havimg to add engine coolant to the radiator. Have a back pressure test performed on each engine cylinder and see if bubbles come up in the radiator cap opening. If so, Head gaskets. Coolant is fine. Its dumping fuel. Fuel is coming out the exhaust. Trust me its not head gasket. Can it be map sensor or leaky fuel injector. I dumped oil today no signs of water what so ever Thanks...

Answer
A faulty MAP sensor would produce the CHECK ENGINE light on the dash.

It is possible to have a faulty or leaking fuel injector, Pull the spark plugs and see which one is coated in heavy black carbon.

Blue smoke = oil blowby from the pitons and out the exhaust.

Black smoke out the exhaust is fuel.

White smoke out the exhaust is engine coolant.

Does the catalytic converter get hot enough to glow RED ?.
