Toyota Repair: 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 V6, starter removal, toyota tacoma 4x4, starter solenoid

Question
1996 Tpyota Tacoma 4x4 V6 120k automatic trans. When trying to start the truck the starter just "clicks". After several tries the starter will spins and engage the flywheel and start the truck. It seems intemittant. 1) Is the starter solenoid which engages the drive and moves the gear out to engage the flywheel going bad? 2) How do I remove the starter? I can see the 2 bolts on the backside of the flywheel for removal but access seems very limited. What do I have to remove first inorder to remove/access the starter?  And I assume the starter bolts and removal will be removed from the bottom?  I am mechanically handy but access seems pretty tight.

Answer
On the 4x4 we mormally remove the right front wheel and the metal shield on the inner fender and the rubber shields, you can remove it through the opening if you get the starter in just the right position, it takes me a while of twisting and turning it and I have replaced a a few.
