Toyota Repair: how can i get my money back for the wrong repair done to my car., wheel barings, mechanic

Question
i have 1997 toyota and i took it to the shop to be to get the barings change on the wheel , but before i took it to the shop that repair shop i had another repair shop look at ti and told me what the problem was. they told me that the front wheels barings was gone, and that they needed to be repair. so when i got to the shop that did the repair i told them that what i wanted to be repair, they did not do a test first but instead took my words, and repair what i wanted. in the end the car was still making the same noise ,and i took it back ,and the macnanic told me he did not check the car he just did what i requested. he then proceded to test the car after i return and stated the problem was still there ,and after he checked it he found that it was not the front barings that was gone but instead the back wheel barings wsa gone.he refused to comosate me for doing the wrong job, but in stted proceed to tell me it was my fault .

Answer
Sorry, but the mechanic is correct in this case, they did what you requested based on a diagnosis form another shop which was incorrect, they did not do the incorrect job because they did the repair at your request.
It's very simple, if you took the car into the shop and said that you want the wheel bearing replaced and it didn't fix the problem it's not their fault, if you took the car in and asked them to check for a noise and they misdiagnosed it then it would be their fault, they are, in my opinion, not obligated to refund you any money.
