Question
out of the blue, my check engine light came on and o/d light starts flashing.  o/d inop(wont shift down when button mashed)took to toyota dealership and was determined solenoid#2 malfunction. nothing done. took home and next day, check engine light still on(havent reset it) take truck for a drive and no flashing o/d light and o/d function works fine(shifts down, and back up when o/d button mashed) what do you think, solenoid was stuck? fluid / filter supposedly changed, but bought used and dont know for sure. fluid not burnt or smelling and mechanically seems good, but am going to change filter/fluid. ok, reset check engine light and everything still good. where do you think i should go with this if it starts again?  thanks!!!

Answer
Sounds like it maybe going out, but as long as it is working leave it alone, someone might have used a pan sealer other then the red TOYOTA SEAL PACKING 1281 (FIPG) P/N 00295-01281 FOR TRANSAXLE CASE, THIS SEALER MUST HAVE CLEAN SURFACES AND AT LEAST 30 MIN OF DRYING TIME AS THE FLUID DISSOLVES ANY THAT MIGHT GET IN THE PAN AND NOT GLOG UP THE VALVE BODY, if just using a gasket no sealer thats fine allso and if you want to download the same info we use for $10.00 for 24hrs and do it yourself, check this out, http://techinfo.toyota.com/
