Toyota Repair: low idle speed, mike mccarthy, toyota camry

Question
We have a 97 toyota Camry, and we've been pleased with the car. We have approx 130k miles. Routine maintenance always. Our problem is that at start up, the engine speed is so low that it won't stay running until we let it warm up for 10 minutes or so, and if we turn on the a/c it cuts out due to lack of rpm.  I thought in the old days there was an idle speed adjustment screw on older cars.  I don't see it here.  Please help.
thanks. Other then that, the car runs great, and no ignition start up problems.

thanks

Answer
Somewhat common problem on camrys, the problem is the idle speed control valve, also called IAC or ISC valve, it's located on the bottom of the throttle body which has to be removed, although the valve can be cleaned with very good success if the car has a lot of miles it may be better to just replace it and take care of the problem for good, also if it should fail again the new one is covered under the parts warranty.
