Toyota Repair: 4runner running problem, plenum chamber, intake plenum

Question
I have a 1990 4 runner,5 speed, 230,000 miles and I replaced the clutch and brake pedal bracket under the dashboard. when I replaced it, I made sure all the wires and sensors went back in exactly the same places. Now, I can start the vehicle with no problems, but it dies about 2-3 seconds after starting. I can faintly smell gas, but dont know if that is from the engine flooding, or just unburnned fuel. where to start looking? I have checked all wire connections (I think) and dont know where to look now.

Answer
It would seem that there is a fuel leak and the engine dies because of the loss of fuel pressure, check very closely for a leak, a common problem is a fuel pressure dampener, it is located on the right side just behind the intake plenum chamber and is attached to the right side fuel injector rail, it is round and about one inch in diameter.
