Hello and thanks for taking time to read this question.
I have a 96 Toyota Paseo with roughly 165,000 miles and I had a private mechanic replace the clutch 4 months ago. Then yesterday in the middle of d.t. traffic I was leaving a traffic light, put it into gear, and it would not move! I tried other gears and still nothing (Moments earlier it was fine there was no symptoms of anything wrong)also, I hear a slight grinding noise when I ease off on the clutch.
does it have something to do with the clutch, or could the transmission be totally shot? and what would I be lookng at as far as the cost is concerned if it's the transmission or whatever else it might be.
Sorry for the long explanation. Didn't want to leave anything out.
Thanks for your help!

I need just a little more information:
How did you get the car moved, was it towed or what?
Are you able to push the clutch pedal down and move the shifter into first(or any)gear with the engine running?
If so, what happens when you let the clutch out?
This will help me diagnose the problem, thank you.
The car was towed by a friend
The shifter goes into gear with no problems w/ engine running
When I slowly release the clutch pedal  and press the gas pedal nothing happens it does not sound like it's in gear.

Answer
Check the shift linkage, make sure it's connected on the transmission shift selector levers, it sounds like something fell off so check very closely for this. Have someone shift through the gears with the engine off and check to see that the selector lever on the transmission moves, a clutch normally doesn't fail as sudden as what you were describing, good luck.
