Nissan Repair: Shift problem, vehicle speed sensor, forward gears

Question
I out the car in drive and it starts out in 3rd gear and won't shift into any other forward gears, not even overdrive.  I took the car to have the tranny serviced, they said it was good.  I replaced the TCM under the right kick panel thinking that would solve the problem...wrong.  All the linkages are in good working order.  There are no check engine light on.  What could it be?  Any help would be great.  Thank you.

Answer
Jesse,

The transmission is in limp mode.  Nissan locks the transmission in third gear to keep owners from hurting it further than it already is.  I would go to Nissan and have them check it out with their Consult II scan tool to find the problem.  Usually, it is the vehicle speed sensor or the servo computer.  They will let you know for sure.  Remember, you can have them diagnose it and then take it somewhere else or repair ti yourself if they want too much to do the work.  And, if it is the vehicle speed sensor that is an easy correction.
