Toyota Repair: air conditioner, toyota landcruiser, ac system

Question
i have a 1996 toyota landcruiser, the ac system is not cooling properly with the ambient temperature at 80 degrees the temperature coming from the vents is about 45 degrees. by the low reading i got from the low gage and the high reading from the high gage and reading couple of books i thought that there was moisture or air in the system. i vacuumed the system and recharged it but i still got the same scenario. what do you think it might be.

thanks

Answer
Try replacing the receiver drier unit, high readings on the high side normally indicate a restriction on the high side, the dier is a good place to start and not hard to get to and relatively inexpensive, if that should not fix the problem I would suspect the expansion valve, it is a lot harder to replace because it's inside under the dash on the evaporator.
