Toyota Repair: Sequoia rear latch handle, body molding, rear hatch

How do I remove and replace the broken handle that activates the rear hatch door on my 2002 Sequoia.  I picked up the new plastic handle and can see that it is bolted to the inside of the hatch but can't figure out how to get to the nuts.  My hatch is shut so I guess I need to get it opened some how.  I don't know how to remove the inside body molding or the outside trim around the license plate area.   Thnaks for any help!

You will need to remove the inside rear door panel to get to the fasteners that hold on the rear trim pieces to remove the handle, remove the pull strap from the rear door, the panel is helsd on with clips and it will pop off, once it is off find the lock and manually release it and the door will open, you can save yourself some grief, money and time if you just let the Toyota dealer handle this, it's not a simple job.
