Toyota Repair: Loss of ignition, mechanic check, toyota corolla

Question
When driving my hour commute, I find that the power seems to drop out when my foot is on the gas going 40-70 mph - this happens 1-3 times per commute.  What's going on and what should I have my technician look for?  How much would this type of service cost?  I have a 1998 Toyota Corolla with about 102,000 miles.

Answer
Just have the mechanic check for common issues like spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor etc. it sounds like there may be an engine misfire, replace both the air and fuel filters, in other words, try doing a major tune up and it will probably fix the problem.
