Automatic transmission.

Answer
There is a problem with the shift interlock system, I recommend that you have a Toyota dealer check this out, in the meantime I think I can save you a tow bill, here is what you need to do to be able to shift and drive the car, there is an interlock release button just in front of the shifter, remove the small plastic cover then push a small screwdriver or whatever you have into the opening, the button is spring loaded so push it all the way down, you can now move the shifter, put it in neutral and your foot on the brake the engine should start so you can drive it to a repair shop, if this doesn't work the shift interlock solenoid is stuck, this happens a lot of time because drinks are spilled into the center console, anyway, I hope this is of some help.
