Toyota Repair: price., toyo dealer, repair job

Question
Last week I took my Toyo (camry 95 four cilinders)to a Toyo dealer because a had an oil  leak and some problems in the reverse ligths,(The ones that turn white when you go backwars) They (the dealer) give to me a bill for $209.00 dollars for change the gasket in the oil pan and put oil in it, they don't perform any repair job, and for put together the electric lines inside the trunk they charge $109.00 dollars. No other problem was in the electic wires. My question is. Is that prices fair? Why the dealers charge so much money.

                Thanks for your help.

Answer
i get this type of question often. i've been working for dealers since i started in the business. the reasons are a few. first the techs are higher paid than independant shops, the dealer pays for the techs to go to school and pay them a full days pay while they are in school, state of the art equipment, more personell in the building. all this adds up to a higher overhead. the quality is usually the best at a dealer cause they are working on one make of vehicle. i hope i have helped. paul p. and to answer your other question about fair pricing. yes the price is fair.labor rate dictates you bill.
the labor rate in the dealer that i work at is $95.00 per hour.
