Question - Thanks Ted!  Yes we changed out the dryer and cleaned the expansion valve, we have 30 lbs of pressure on the low side and 225 lbs on the high side. Well within specs I think?  What things trigger the a/c button to flash?  We checked continuety on the low and high pressure switches, and the button still flashes...  We are going NUTZ... How can we tell if we have too much freon?  George

Dear Ted,  I am stuck! My friend who has extensive A/C conversion experience did my (1993 Toyota Celica Convert 22re auto) ac from r12 to 134a.  We replaced the compressor, evaporator, condenser, radiator, conv kit, etc. Put it all together just right and now the problem. It turns on the a/c when you push the a/c button but then shuts down and then the button blinks. We were told by a Toyota service tech it was the amplifier, and changed that too $100 down the drain, but it still does the same thing... I am going out of my mind and it is getting HOT out here in Arizona!  Please HELP me I am really stuck.  Thank You!!! George
Answer - The compressor locked up and my friend did not want all the schrapnel throughout the system so we changed the compressor, evaporator, etc... It should work with all the prep we did on the car. The a/c button still flashes when we turn it on! My phone number is 602 570 8380 if you want to talk to me!  Thanks George!
I need a little bit of background information, what was the reason all of those parts were replaced?

Did you also replace the expansion valve and the receiver drier? I seems there may still be some metal particles in there that could clog things up. Does your friend have some a/c gauges so that you can get pressure readings from the system? Make sure the system does not have too much freon in it.

Answer
225psi on the high side is too high it should be about 150, the low side is normal. If there is too much freon in the system the compressor will start to try pumping liquid freon, it should only be pumping the freon in gas form it's turning off and on because of this, I suggest you remove all the freon and put in only the exact amount the system calls for(about 1.3 lbs)and try again.
