RV Repair: Furnace, happy camping, 5th wheel

Question
I have a 1987 5th wheel Wilderness camper. My furnace is supposed to light when I turn on the thermostate. I have cleaned the points. The furnace doesn't look like it has been used that much. It worked good when I first got it about 3 yrs ago. But now it works sometimes and at other times it starts but there is no spark. It seems as if a valve is sticking and not turning on the gas. But of course I don't know much about it. Please help if you can. thanks.   David

Answer
David,
Furnaces have so many parts that it is hard to say what is wrong with your furnace.  It could be the circuit board, the ignitor, the gas valve, the sail switch, the limit switch, etc.  If you have no experience diagnosing these type systems I would reccomend pulling the furnace out and taking it to a repair shop.  I'm sure this is not the answer youn wanted to hear, but it will be cheaper than throwing parts at it!  Good luck and happy camping.
