Toyota Repair: Front wheel bearing, steering knuckle, toyota dealer

Question
I have a 1998 Tacoma 4 wheel drive p/u. with only 56000 miles and never been off road. The front driver side wheel bearing is going bad (making noise). The mechanic said that you could not press the bearing out of the hub ass'y without damaging it to where you would have to replace the knuckle ass'y and the cost would be $700.00. Does this sound true? If so, is there away to replace it without doing all this damage?

Answer
Is this a Toyota facility you are dealing with?
If not I suggest you have a Toyota dealer check and give you an estimate to replace the wheel bearing, what you were told doesn't seem right to me, the bearing can be replaced without doing damge to the steering knuckle but most of the time the hub has to be replaced also.
