Toyota Repair: starter removal for 97 tacoma, inner fender, starter removal

unbolted starter, how does starter come out of compartment? What is disconnected to make a hole big enough to fit thru?

Answer
I normally remove the right front wheel then remove the inner fender rubber cover, you can get it out through there, you may have to bend some brake lines out of the way but with some twisting and turning of the starter in just the right position it will come out.
You can also try through the bottom but you may have to bend the power steering line a little.
