Toyota Repair: struts and strut assemblies, strut mounts, inner fenders

Question
 I have two camrys the 1998 Camry has alot of
front in noise ,I'm told by some service people
that the Strut assembly & struts on the 97 thru
99 , were faulty , . My 98Camry has only 64000
miles. My 1996 Camry has 115000 miles no
Strut problems .Is this a common problem with
the 1997 thru 1999 camrys?

Yes it's a common problem but it's not the struts that cause the noise, it's the upper strut mounts, if you open the hood you can see them on the top of the inner fenders, there are three 14mm bolts with one larger 19mm nut in the center, the only way they can be replaced is by removing the strut from the car, the new parts are an updated version and fix this problem permanently.
