Toyota Repair: 1997 Toyota 4runner 6-cyl starter, toyota 4runner, auto mechanic

Hello,

I'm new to the auto mechanic thing, but I need instructions or a source to go to to find out how to replace my starter in a 1997 4 Runner Manual 6 cyl. If you could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello Kyle, welcome to my expert page.
The first thing is to disconnect the battery, remove the electrical connections from the starter, if it's 2 wheel drive it's a lot easier but you didn't say if it's 2 or 4 wheel drive, both starter bolts are on the backside of the bellhousing(14mm)once they are removed it's just a matter of getting it out.
