Toyota Repair: Engine wont start, proscess, blue spark

Question
I have a 88 toyota pickup 2barrel 22R and my battery is brand new, new alternator and my truck lately wont start unless i tweak with the battery terminals and pull out the ignition fuse under the hood and put it back in and then my truck would start. it only does this after sitting after a couple of hours. Then i repeat the whole proscess again. but now it wont start. just cranks over but no firing in the motor. What is troubling me?

Answer
Hello Andrew, welcome to my expert page.
It appears that the engine has either lost fuel pressure ot that there is no spark at the spark plugs, these are the two most common problems, both are relatively easy to check.
Remove the top of the air cleaner so you can look into the carburetor, with the key off, work the throttle by hand ans see if fuel is sprayed into the carb,to check for spark remove one of the plug wire connectors and put a screwdriver into the end and hold it about half an inch from any ground point, there should be a blue spark, let me know what happens.
